Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains exactly what cookies developer.waiyatlabs.space uses, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device when you visit. They help the website remember information about your visit — such as your preferred language or settings — making your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.
We also use localStorage (browser local storage) for the same functional purposes as cookies where appropriate.
2. Cookies We Use
We operate a minimal cookie policy. We use only two essential functional cookies and one optional analytics mechanism:
| Cookie Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Essential? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| devops-theme | Functional | Remembers your chosen colour theme (light or dark mode) between sessions. | 1 year | Yes |
| devops-cookie-consent | Functional | Stores your cookie consent decision so the banner does not re-appear on every visit. | 1 year | Yes |
| _analytics (if enabled) | Analytics | Privacy-preserving aggregate page-view analytics. Does not identify individual users, fingerprint browsers, or track across sites. | Session / 24h | Optional |
We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, social media cookies, or any persistent cross-site identifiers.
3. Essential vs Optional Cookies
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for the site to function correctly — specifically for preserving your theme preference and recording your consent decision. These do not require your consent under most privacy frameworks but we still disclose them transparently.
Optional cookies (analytics, if enabled) require your explicit consent and can be declined or revoked at any time without affecting your use of the site.
4. Third-Party Cookies
We do not embed third-party advertising or social media widgets that set cookies. Our analytics, if active, are handled by a self-hosted or privacy-first analytics provider that does not place persistent cross-site cookies or report user data to third-party advertising networks.
Note: if you click external links (e.g., to GitHub or npm), those third-party sites may set their own cookies, governed by their own privacy policies.
5. Managing & Withdrawing Consent
You have the following options to manage cookies:
- Cookie Consent Banner — When you first visit the site, a consent banner allows you to accept or decline optional analytics cookies. Your choice is saved in
devops-cookie-consent. - Browser Settings — You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time. Note that blocking essential cookies (such as the theme cookie) may affect site functionality (e.g., your theme preference will not be saved).
- Withdraw Consent — To withdraw analytics consent after the fact, clear your cookies for developer.waiyatlabs.space in your browser settings, or email us at privacy@waiyatlabs.space.
6. Cookie Durations
Our session-level cookies expire when you close your browser tab. Persistent cookies expire after the duration listed in the table above (maximum 1 year). We do not use cookies with durations longer than 1 year.
7. No Personal Data in Cookies
Our cookies do not contain your email address, name, or any other directly identifying personal data. The theme preference cookie contains only a string value of “light” or “dark”. The consent cookie contains only “accepted” or “declined”.
8. Updates to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change our cookie usage. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Significant changes will be communicated via the site or newsletter.
